my final destination is the city of cuenca how should i tour it and my first stop is Guayaquil I heard it is a dangerous city?

Guayaquil is dangerous yes, Cuenca is nice, I was there, you just walk around and enjoy the sites, just use common sense, don't walk on dark streets, stay near lots of people and watch your pockets.
