AWACS 2

I started working on the NATO AWACS about nine months ago, and this was the first time I had seen one up close. We flew one later in the week, but unfortunately cameras weren't allowed on the airplane or the base. This comes from a small observation area outside the base perimeter fence.
One trap that I often fall into is the almost compulsive need to fit the entirety of a subject into a frame. It's often not the best way to shoot a subject, especially because it tends to leave a lot of empty space around the subject. Using a longer lens (here a 100mm) forces me to leave some of the subject out of the shot, and in this case it works well - getting the full wingspan of the aircraft in the frame would have shrunk the plane significantly compared to the full frame of the shot, and you'd be seeing a lot more pavement and grass.
I spent about two hours with no jacket out in the cold waiting for these planes to take off because I couldn't let myself leave without getting some shots of the very thing I was there to work on. After a trip last year where I missed a wonderful shot during some environmental testing, I learned my lesson - the camera will always come with me, and I'll bring it to any job site that I'm allowed.

Another Damn Picture

One unusual retail strategy we saw several places in Germany is this pattern of organizing goods by color. I'll give you that is this situation it works. We first notcied, it. however, at a children's clothing store, where the clothing racks were arranged not by size, but by color. All the red clothes were in one place, all the blue in another. Quite odd.

Master Question by cryxander: What are some fun cheap things to do on our trip without tour guides?
We are going to Cozumel, freeport, honduras and belize on a cruise. we have booked shore excursions everywhere but cozumel and freeport. Any good beaches? Any idea on average prices for cabs? Any ideas or tips on going to the islands are appreciated.

Answer by MCLS
WITHOUT BUYING A TOUR SOME THINGS TO DO IN FREEPORT IS WALK AROUND THE PORT AREA OR HIRE A TAXI TO TAKE YOU AROUND THE CITY SOMETIMES YOU CAN GET A BETTER PRICE THEN THE SHIP. I HAVE ALSO SEEN MOPES BUT THIS IS A LITTLE BIT TO MUCH FOR ME SINCE THEY DRIVE ONTHE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN COZUMEL YOU CAN RENT A JEEP FOR ABOUT 50.00 A DRIVE AROUND. THIS IS WHAT WE DID AND IT WAS GREAT FUN. WE STOPPED ALONG THE BEACH FRONT, THEN STOPPED FOR SOME DRINKS AND SNACKS. WE ALSO STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES TO LOOK AT THINGS AND SHOPPED ONE TIP DON'T FILL UP THE GAS TANK YOU. CHECK WITH THE RENTAL PERSON. THE OFFICE IS AT THE PIER. IT WAS FUN AND WE DIDN'T FEEL THAT WE WERE IN DANGER AT ANY TIME.

Swaziland MR3 Highway - Swaziland

Although still a relatively poor country with many people living in poverty, Swaziland has prioritized expenditure on infrastructure and modernizing the country as a development strategy. A good example of this is the MR3 highway that runs from Ngwenya border, past the capital city of Mbabane and down to the industrial hub of the kingdom, Manzini. If you travel here, be assured that your hotel will be well connected to local attractions by a network of similarly top quality tar roads.

Traditional Architecture - Swaziland

The traditional Swazi architectural style is a structure referred to as a “beehive hut”. These dome-shaped buildings are covered with thatch grass which keeps them warm in winters and cool in summers. A number of lodges and accommodation providers have similar style units available for tourists to sleep in. Try Mlilwane Swaziland, Nisela safaris or Phophonyane Falls Lodge.
